This might sound cheesy, but I just want to make a confession-
As I’ve said to many people, one of my favorite things about my job is the people I work with. And out of all these amazing people, Alice, who works on the same team as I do, has become one of my really close friends. This is something I didn’t expect, but feel so lucky and blessed to have- a colleague that I can call a good friend. 🙂
Anyways, so she knows I’m kind of…a rookie in the kitchen. So after I commented on how good her lunch smells, she typed out her recipe for me- To be honest, I was so touched when I saw this email at work. And I gotta say this is the most humorous recipe I’ve ever seen…I mean, how many times have you laughed reading a recipe? 😛
This recipe is easy, relatively fast, and really delicious (I’ve got my roommates’ approval ;))! I really love this recipe and the way Alice wrote it, so I asked for her permission to share it on my blog- Thank you Alice!! 😀 ❤
I have to say my second day with Gem and Sophie was full of yummy food! 😀 (But the highlight IS the knights tournament *KALTENBERGER RITTERTURNIER*, read on to find out more! Haha) First, we came back to Munich city center and shopped around Viktualienmarkt, a daily food market right by Marienplatz. I had them try some sausages at the store where I first visited with Mom and cousin a couple weeks ago, and oh, of course a mug of white beer is a must! Gem kept saying how she was so content 🙂 You have to come here soon to try some real German food, Sharon!
P.S. How do you like my new necklace? Gem got it for me from Barcelona 🙂
The picture below was actually taken when I went there with Mom. My favorite weiss wursts (white sausages) with that sweet mustard sauce!
I’m super excited to share my weekend stories with you! As you know, my friend from college (Gem) came to visit last weekend, so it was really eventful and a lot of fun. I’ll briefly tell you about the city…but more importantly I want to tell you everything about Kaltenberger Ritterturnier–the world’s largest knights tournament!
This was probably the fourth time I went to Marienplatz, I mean, I got to show her the city center right? 😉 Oh and I actually drove there last Thursday to run some errands for Dad…long story short, I’m never driving to Munich city again! Lol.
So this is Marienplatz, full of tourists obviously…and that building in Gothic Revival Architecture style is Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall/新市政廳), and that’s also where the tourist information center is. During the summer, the chime up top (called Rathaus-Glockenspiel) is performed by an apparatus at 11 AM, 12 PM, and 5 PM everyday, and it lasts for a good 10 or 15 minutes. There are two stories, the top half is some royal wedding, and the bottom half is “Schafflertanz”, a traditional dance in Munich…(Picture below)
Hope you enjoyed my last blog post about downtown Charleston 🙂 Do you think that’s somewhere you would want to visit one day? Anyway, I gotta say my favorite part of the trip was the Middleton Place, where we spent hours on the second day.
Middleton Place is a huge and beautiful plantation built in several phases throughout the 18th and 19th century, and many of the Middleton family played important roles in the colonial history of South Carolina. Of course they were extremely wealthy, and had enormous amount of slaves to work for them–it must have been difficult to manage such a huge plantation! It’s hard to describe to you my feelings for this place…I just know that I could stay there all day long. I think that’s why I love the nature, I get so touched by its power and its beauty…it makes me feel like all my personal problems are not as big of a deal as what I thought they would be…Anyways, one of my favorite spots was the Butterfly Lake (the picture below), so serene and peaceful 🙂
